James Davison is a true paddock-to-tech professional, combining years of hands-on farming experience with a passion for precision ag. After finishing school in 2011, James headed north to work on a million-acre cattle station in the NT, mustering cattle across remote properties. That early exposure to big machinery and remote operations kickstarted a career that’s taken him through broadacre farming, cotton irrigation, team leadership, and farm management across northern NSW.
With a double degree in Agriculture and Business from UNE Armidale and a life-changing exchange semester in the American Corn Belt James has built a strong understanding of global farming systems, soil dynamics, and on-ground operational challenges. He knows what makes farms tick, and more importantly, what farmers need from their technology.
In 2022, James made the leap from full-time farming to ag-tech, reaching out directly to Vantage NSW in search of a role where his practical insights could make a wider impact. Now, as a Field & Farm Technician, he supports growers across the region to get the most from their systems making sure every install, calibration, and integration is precise, reliable, and delivering return on investment.
Known for his attention to detail, calm problem-solving in the field, and straight-up professionalism, James is the kind of tech who doesn’t just fix problems he prevents them.
Outside of work, James is a passionate country rugby player and coach, a solid asset on any mixed netball team, and a loyal mate who still catches up with friends from his travels. His ginger tom cat, Rigby, is a well-known sidekick and occasional supervisor on days off.
